Team Building
At Unicus we can help your team get off to a 'fast start' by ensuring that the team is set up for success with everyone understanding their role and valuing the role and contribution of the other members.
We often work with teams at the 'forming' stage but our approach is equally valuable for a team building intervention at the other stages of team development ('norming', 'storming' or 'performing') - we can also help you decide what stage you are at as a team and therefore help you focus on the most important team building aspect.
Team Development
Like individuals, teams tend to experience a growth process that can be observed and defined. Teams develop in stages and tend to go through characteristic steps as they evolve into an effective team. We use these steps as a non-threatening way of helping you build on positives and highlight concerns that have developed within your team as they seek to resolve the different issues involved in creating and sustaining a team. This structured approach enables us to help you objectively assess the progress of your team and identify key activities necessary to maximise performance.
Each event is tailored to the client's needs. They generally involve a 3-stage process which includes:
Stage 1: Diagnosis with the leader and the team to establish the Aim and Objectives of the day. Using coaching methods we work with the leader and involve the team in identifying specifically what the key issues are. This enables the team to take ownership of the content, format and results of the day.
Stage 2: Event: Planning and Facilitation of the Off-site Meeting designed according to the results from Stage 1. Coaching models and processes are incorporated into the day to meet the needs of the client for problem solving and decision making. The day includes clear goals, decision making, action planning.
Stage 3: A Review Session will take place 3-6 months after Stage 2 to establish what has been achieved, learnt and what the next steps should be.
We often are asked to use Myers-Briggs or 360 reviews as part of our team development activities.
Virtual Teams
Increasingly teams need to work virtually - in different places or different time zones. At Unicus we believe you need to pay special attention to issues of trust and communication if you are going to create an effective virtual team. We have many years experience of helping virtual teams be the best they can be. For more information e-mail
